From the Principal’s Desk
‘Mathematics is the language with which God
has written the universe’, said Galileo.
Mathematics is considered to be a Science of numeracy and
calculations. It is not only ‘number work’ or ‘computations’ but is
more about forming generalizations , seeing relationships and
developing logical thinking and reasoning. In other words, doing
mathematical computation is like going to a gym to exercise your
brain. This edition of the Mathematics Newsletter brings you the
glimpses of how Mathematics is woven in our day-to-day activities
and in almost all walks of life. It brings forth a combination of
puzzles, riddles, brain teasers and of course the accomplishments
of our little wizards who rack their brains to perform amazing
tasks in the Mathematics lab. and have won numerous
competitions and brought laurels to the school. Also, I must
congratulate our staff members who cull out the best in the
students with their consistent efforts and by opening new avenues
for them to exhibit their talent. This newsletter is one such
platform that makes you explore the uses of Mathematics in IT,
Astronomy, Art, Agriculture and Textile Industry and so many
other fields. It’s highlight is to take you on a journey to unravel
the secrets of the universe hidden in every little thing around us.
Let’s embark on this journey to find what Pythagoras said ,
‘there’s Geometry in the humming of the strings, their music in
the spacing of spheres’.
It gives us immense pleasure to share that two
teachers of our department; Ms. Leena
